Rattling engine noise. Ford focus. RESOLVED FIXED

any idea what the rattling noise is?
seems to be comimg from the side of the engine where the belt is.
niticed this yesterday and seems to have got worse today.

UPDATE:
the timing belt was all worn out and had to be replaced.

Yup i did manage to get it sorted.

It was the fanbelt/cambelt and water pump. Im not sure how that made the rattling noise but the belt was very worn when it was shown to me.

ours sounded just like that except we lost brakes and power and it died out and now free spinning

Timing belt or unlinked crankshaft. but its weird it sounds like oil is in the breather tube. Oh or water pump and possibly a pulley scraping

@teddymexico I have a 2002 Focus with 183K miles and the only thing I have had to change were a few radiator hoses which is just general maintenance and the two sway bar links... I love the Focus and my next car will also be a Focus!

@teddymexico Oh I agree with you Fords are actually very reliable cars... You can always depend on the dashboard warning lights to tell you whats wrong with it...

There are plenty of people with a problem free Focus. I have a 2007 and it was given 4.5/5 stars by over 160 voters at Edmunds.com. My car has 66k and it's only service has been a replaced trunk latch. Ford Focus is a good car. I just joined a website called "focus fanatics" and there are hundreds of people who's Focus (Foci?) are approaching 200k and they're still running strong
