My lens broken (canon 17-85 mm Is USM) body is working with another lenses, the problem occurs at 17 - 35 mm range , i think its about lens chip , but i cant exactly know the isue .. if i can fix i'll post in youtube again ..

Update : The problem is defined , its because of breaking the flex cable, inside lens, and solution is changing flex cable or trying to fix cable coint. i cant find it in my country, so i will try to repair. there are sellers in china and hong kong , and its price is 12 $ each .

Tested with canon 40d , canon 50mm1.8 , canon 17 85 mm ISUSM

Recorded with Canon 40D - Sigma 10 20 mm and Lg km900

  • I had this problem after getting my Rebel t2i wet (caught in the rain) - I was relieved to figure out that it worked with other lenses. - with the one lens though (the error one) it only displays the error sometimes...any idea what's up with that? There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to when it works and when it doesn't. Any ideas?

  • My 18-55 lenz has suddenly stopped focussing on auto mode.It works once in 10-15 attempts. What could be wrong. Help!

  • @ewanok lol i wish ya woulda told me this before i bout myself a t2i(550d) its been treatin me pretty good

  • @matteuklol Nope, never had a problem with sharpness. Sharpness is almost never anything to do with the body as quality of focus and optical quality is all in the lense. Get a decent lens, or maybe it's faulty.

  • @CANNONakaHADDY Yep, great camera.

  • Same problem. Autofocus doesn't work and 17mm to just past 24mm returns error 01. Had this lens without issue for around three years, very annoying!

  • Encountered the exact same reason with my 17-85mm. Athough now the aperture is stuck in an almost closed position (f/22 probably) So not a whole lot of light gets into the camera, and AF doesn't work, since the camera needs at least f/5.6 to autofocus. It was under warranty though, so it's in for a repair now. A shame I didn't get the 15-85mm from the start. much better quality.

  • I have a Canon 450D with a Sigma 28-70mm lens. And this problems only occurs when I'm outdoors.

  • Its not the camera i have that lens on a 7d and it started doing that yesterday. Its weird it only does it between 17-24mm even at thos focal lengths at f4 they wotk its just 17-24mm after f4 it dosents work
