One of the few buildings remaining from 1972 when this one was the Hq for 1/9. I was the communication officer at the battalion for a few months.

  • @97448able T was @ Camp Schwab 1/9 Bravo,2/9 Golf, 3/9, Mike & Kilo Wpns Plt. 72-78 downby the raquetball court on the hill, & by the theater, Loved that place hated the world bases the had no disipline like we had no beach as close ,plus "Hooterville" wasn't that bad anybody remember "Speedy Maria or Amtrac Annie"

  • Thanks. I was a 2818 "Tactical Office Machine Repairman"1973-1977

I bounced all over Okinawa, because I did not have the "Fixed Plant" Mod 28 Teletype Machine and KG-13 "Pontus" training at the time. I was at Camp Schwab in 1975. I do remember the communications center with I believe two Mod 28's over a Microwave Net. Thank God I did not have to repair it.

Great peacetime experience (I was not there) for a young man; however, I don't miss it much.

These are the days. Thank you sir.

  • @yorkva Wow! We probably crossed paths. I had a lot of buddies in Tracks there in 79'. I was always visiting their barracks. Did you go to Fuji with BLT 2/4? W had a bad fire with lotrs of casualties there. That was in Oct. of 79'. Pleased to meet you Doc. I'm Tony Cevallos

  • @ChowHallCommando I was there as a Corpsman in !979 and I also remember the USO have excellent Yakasoba. Camp Schwab was a beautiful base. I ate at the 1st Tracks Chow Hall or sometimes at 3/9.

  • @jurgenmanfred Horno was my first unit back in 1978 straight down the road fromITS. I was with C co. 1/1 and after that F Co. 2/4 at Shwab in Okinawa.

    Semper Fi

  • @0321USMC Hey, I was there to in 1979 with F Co. 2/4 right by the Base Theatre. I use to love the Yakisoba at the USO at the top of the hill. Miss those days somuch. When were you there?

    Semper Fi!

  • Sweet memories. That looks like your at the top of the hill near the USO. I was at the bottom by the Base Theatre back in 1979 with Fox Co, 2/4. I loved Okinawa. Miss it so much.

  • C 1/9 weapons. 1987 camp horno

  • That definitely is the former HQ I used to get stuck with duty runner, hand carrying messages up the hill to Regt. HQ The smaller building next door was our S-2 shop, the S&C shop and the guard room.
