@dasavage68 its trio-syllabic because you pronounce it as shor-yu-ken. Ryu is two syllables. Isolating the middle part making it one syllable would only make sense if you isolated yu. Pronounce the word as sho-ryu-ken and it makes sense however ryu is two syllables no matter how you break it down.
