Isn't the whole Winston Churchill/plastic bag section missing?

He replaced Any Phillips, I believe. And I highly recommend Ant's solo albums. Beautiful 12-string guitar pieces, heavily reminiscent of...Genesis.

@DrTeeth02 The balance of commercial & non- commercial tastes changed over the years. Tony, peter & steve did it just for the music. Phil & mike were very capable of writing pop songs, tony was outnumbered. However they still came out with some strokes of brilliance!

boy gabriel's voice was already shot, he never could hit the high notes the music demanded.

Nice job with the editing. The ending definitely wasn't ruined.

@roccotool Hackett wasn't one of the founders he was hired later when he answered an ad

Teeth is right. Hackett was one of the founders, and it's too bad he was drowned out by My-Way-Only Banks. I like the way Collins sings this epic one, though. This was their Stairway to Heaven.

@DrTeeth02 I completely agree. Of course, peter gabriel was very artistic and had great showmanship, but when hacket left, genesis turned pop, and i just couldnt listen to it....
The early Hackett solo albums do have a strong Genesis feel, and if you listen to the pre hackett Genesis (e.g Trespass) there is a significant change into the "classic Genesis" even though Gabriel was in it from the start. Gabrial leaves af Lamb lies down but it wasn't till after wind and wuthering (the last studio album with Hackett) that the classic Genesis feel departs. with all the PG Vs. Phil, the importance of Hackett has been much overlooked in Genesis discussions.
