    When I bought the AT 4050 yeasr ago, I in fact had to decide between this one and the TLM 103. The 103 was brighter because it has more boost in the treble range - what sounded nice - but the AT 4050 was more neutral. Sometimes I regret that I did not take the 103, just because it is a Neumann, you know that shiny silver look and the name.... Generally both are fine mics,

  • thanks for posting ! when it soloed on just one mic, i like what AT4050 captured the guitar softness and fat body sound, yet maintained its crispness...but i agreed put the two mic just the way you did is better sounding!!

  • you should try placing the AT4050 where the shotgun mic is. I have found that you get a good recording with the condenser on the neck of the guitar rather than on the other side of the sound hole.
