The brace has flexible steel support springs that remain flush to the ankle, and is perfect to wear inside a sports shoe / boot.
Are the springs rectangular ? Possibly bulk but it's impossible to say unless you were to open the protective covering of the brace. At a guess yes, but merely based from a comfort perspective.
