Operation Urgent Fury A Look Back

I made this video in tribute to the soldiers who fought and died on the island of Grenada in Operation Urgent Fury. The pictures highlight mostly the Army Rangers and the 82nd Airborne paratroopers that did much of the fighting over there. The operation began on October 25th, 1983, and though most of the fighting only lasted into the first few days of November, it was one of the most difficult and stressful wars for the soldiers who fought there, partly due to the fact that it HAD to be done so quickly. The mission was to rescue medical students who had been detained on a college campus, to evacuate US citizens, and to liberate the island and its people from a recent communist coup that had occurred earlier in the month, stabalizing the situation -- all of which were accomplished.

This war doesn't get a whole lot of attention, and I thought it time someone paid tribute to all those who fought in it. A personal friend of the family fought in this war, so this video is special to me. I created this video to do my best to capture the war and give others a peek inside it while paying tribute to those who fought it. =) And of course to all our brave soldiers who are fighting today as well. @LordSnow69 There was a mountain of them in that hanger by the time we left. Lots of shots of the 82d in this and several of the Marines. Only saw a couple the the 75th though. Guess they pulled us out before all the reporters showed up.

This year 28 years since Operation Urgent Fury. This year, the dates perfectly coincide with the days (Monday, Tuesday, etc) back in the year 1983. This year will be particularly hard on those brave soldiers who served. May we keep them in our prayers. Thank you for your service. You've brought smiles to many people in Grenada, smiles that would not have been there had you not fought for them. May we remember those who did not make it home again. May they be honored and remembered.

i do think the students needed rescuing because no one on the island could of walk the streets otherwise u would be shot on sight so there was no way of getting food and stuff and inocent people were getting shot by stray bullets so they had to get they people out of that situation.
