"Maybe you don't really care about the benefits, you just want to get married so maybe (just a maybe) people will think you are "normal." Wouldn't that be a dream come true! But even if you can get "married," you still won't be normal, will you?"
No shame, no bias, no feeling of superiority, just an observation of how it really is, which is reality.
LOL @ sanctity of marriage. So you're telling me it's ok for people to marry out of greed and their own egos on a television gameshow such as "Who wants to marry a millionaire" or "My big fat obnoxious fiancé" and make a mockery out of the institution of marriage - but it's ok because they're straight?! When there are plenty of homosexual couples who are completely in love and ready for a lifelong commitment but are denied this and any similar benefits out of sheer prejudice!
Interesting. Very interesting. Kinda touchy, aren't we? Maybe you don't really care about the benefits, you just want to get married so maybe (just a maybe) people will think you are "normal." Wouldn't that be a dream come true! But even if you can get "married," you still won't be normal, will you?
Not to worry - Amendment 2 merely embeds current Florida law into the constitution so that those who wish to preserve the sanctity of marriage as the union between one man and one woman can feel comfortable that the ACLU or some other group is not going to challenge the law in court. Nothing changes - benefits, powers of attorney, everything stays the same. What you hear is being put out by special interest groups who actually want the CHANGE the law rather than keeping it as it is now.
