Phelps versus Spitz

US Swimmer Michael Phelps has shot at breaking Mark Spitz's record for most gold medals won by an American in a single Olympics. Mark Spitz who won seven gold medals at the Munich Olympic Games in 1972. Michael Phelps has won six Olympic gold medals.

Spitz and Phelps have NO beef nor envy with each other. Only the losers are imagining animosity between these two.

I'm secure enough to praise Michael Phelps without tearing Mark Spitz down. Both Spitz and Phelps are Olympic legends now. And I am damn proud of BOTH of them!

@peppytwo There are 2 events on each of back, breast and fly, 5 on free, 2 IMs and 3 relays. Thats 16 events in total covering 4 different strokes and an incredible scope of distances. Phelps won 8 of the 16 is incredible because it shows he is the most diverse sportsman in the world, most swimmers only do 1 or 2 events. It's like someone in athletics winning the 100m, 200m, 400m, both relays, javelin, long jump, and hammer throw. It's just incredible.

I was in Munich in 72'. The whole Olympic Village was going nuts with what Spitz was doing. Until the tragedy with the Isreali athletes. And then the whole olympics became what it became.

Okay Juandi, alcohol, cronic cigarret smokers are worst then Marijuana. I deal with people destroied by drugs and alcohol, I know what tragic it is. During the Comunism in the old Germany, they use to won lots of Gold Medals! The big true, came later on, when the Word found out, that most of them where involved in drugs.
