Nice jig. Question for you.... How does the fret slot size match up with the bandsaw blade? is there a difference or do you just buy fret wire to match the cutting thickness of the blade? thanks
I adjusted the kerf on the blade with a diamond file while the saw was running. I did this until the kerf was right for the tang on the fretwire. The blade is now useless for other uses, but that's ok. I now keep that blade exclusively for cutting fret slots. Reducing the kerf by this method can be dangerous, so be careful or just buy the right blade for the job.
I cut the template myself from 3' X 1/8 Aluminium. The slots are just another visual guide to line up with the slot cut on the slide where the pin is. Thanks for your questions.
Great video. I have cut a lot of fretboards but never thought to do it this way. Who cut your template and what are the alternating slots on the back for?
