Live at The Clubhouse - January 31, 2010 - Captured just as it went down. Dan Jones, pedal steel; Mitch Jervis, guitar; Austin Hein, bass; Larry Ziehl, drums.

When most people think of pedal steel guitar, they associate it with country music...or, for the well traveled, the Hawaiian Islands. But in fact, the steel guitar has a long history in more complex forms of music. From the Big Bands of the 40s to the hard-to-find instrumental works of the 60s Nashville masters, steel players have adapted the keening, soaring sound of their instrument to the intricacies of jazz and swing.

  • lol I never thought this song would sound so good with a pedal steel. This is pretty good.

  • @Rexicano fartface

  • @teeny58239

Maybe you confused me with someone who likes to hear a cry baby.

  • @Rexicano Good point. Why limit ourselves. If another moosician doesn't play the way we do, then they suck. No limits here. You should share a video of your soloing so the rest of the world can give you their pointless and sour opinions. BTW, his solo concludes very resolutely and he even adds punctuation. Nice playin, SD's. Thanks for sharing your music.

  • @d18dude @d18dude

So, we should all limit ourselves?

Let's see you play like Wes....

can't do it. Even using your pinky.

    See ya Grumpy.

  • @Rexicano Yep, another guitar player in jazz who seldom used his pinky was Wes Montgomery. :^)

  • Pedal guitar is great. But the guitarist falters; weird to be a guitar soloist in jazz who does not use his left hand pinky. And his rh picking is weak. His solo has no real conclusion.

  • i love it... i love you guys long live jazz soul forever :o) mabuhay !!!!

  • Nice job guys... very smooth.. you guys need to be working every night.. Wow!!

  • What a beautiful old Mullen!...great job guys!!!.
