Yes, the world is bombarded with scale produced electronics and components marked "Made in China" which means massive profit to the brand in the short run, cheap to buy but poor reliability and eraly replacement, -not good to the environment. Ten year old electronicd outperforms these mass produced shit, but who wants to have just old stuff...

i can totally agree about modern electronics.
they sound nowhere near as good as a vintage receiver.and they are made of cheap lousy parts.

Hi there, i now have this amp and also noticed the diference between this transformer and other from a previous model receiver..
on the back of this one it says 240watts.... so what does this mean?
if it can supply 100w x 5 channels, shouldnt it be at least 500w?

@i1100ran does it have record or tape output on it ??? then thats how u hook an external amp to it

Watch My Rant on my channel just to see how modern electric piss me off. My BT Router is the biggest pile of crap going. The good old electronic engineers are being sacked and replaced with monkeys.

tube electronics are the best. if something goes wrong which mostly would be a tube. all you would need to do is replace the old one with a new one. i have several tube radios myself dating back to the 1930s.
The worst part about the newer HT receivers from a service standpoint is that many don't even have a removable bottom. So if you need to do anything on the main board that requires soldering you then have to pull the entire circuit board out in order to do it.

@GenerationXT Ya, I hate that too. Seems like nothing is made to be repaired anymore, no matter what the cost when it was new.

I've got a recently made Sony that's essentially in the same class as that Yamaha...
I've had it for awhile and have to say I love it:)
Between modern Sony,Yamaha and Onkyo which do you prefer?

@SirFoggy2Doped My next one will probably be an Onkyo, as long as it is one of the higher end ones. I've never had any problems with my Sony STR-DE545 either, and I bought that about 10 years ago.
