Yeah, Billy was truly great, but why would the 77 year old be driving a van when he should have let one of the younger guys do the driving? I mean, for crying out loud, he didn't just kill himself, he took three other people with him!

Here's what happened: On May 21, 2006, Walker died in a car accident when the van he was driving back to Nashville after a performance in Foley, Alabama veered off Interstate 65 in Fort Deposit and overturned. His wife Bettie; bassist Charles Lilly Jr., son of Everett Lilly of The Lilly Brothers; and guitarist Daniel Patton were also killed in the 12:40 a.m. CT crash. The Walkers, Lilly, and Patton died instantly. Walker's grandson, Joshua Brooks, survived with serious injuries.

Rumor has it, my grandmother wrote this song! Now, I don't know for sure, so don't take my word for it. But she was a songwriter and she claims he stole this from her. (Well, not Billy himself persay, but the recording company in Nashville) Not like we'd ever be able to find out the truth now.... but you never know!! My whole family is very musically inclined, so I wouldn't doubt it if it were true!

The music industry has always been a ruthless hit or miss, so... I wonder!
