8 year old fastpitch pitcher pitching in a 10u game

This is Montanna aka 'Shrimp' ( 8 years old) pitching on May 30, 2009 in a 10u fastpitch softball league game. She turned 8 three days before this video was taken. She only had one run scored on her during this game. She was brought in the game during the 1st inning and the bases were already loaded. She hit one batter during the first inning while trying to back the batter off the plate, which forced one run in. At the end of the video you can see how much smaller she is than the other girls as she leads her team out on the field from the 1st base side. Her team nicknamed her "Shrimp" due to her size.

@grselbo You would be surprised at how many ball's 10 year-olds hit even out of the infieild, almost none. I doubt they could hit a 50mph line drive right to the pitcher.

@SamiLuvsChase I play 10 and under too dont get me wrong some ten yr olds can hit hard i can hit over a 200 ft fence so

@abels457 I play 10u softball and baseball and i hit it 20 feet from the fence. And theres this kid named HotRod, well his sister is in 10u also and she hits it over the fence!

Great lil pitcher:) make sure she doesnt throw her shoulder forward towards the end of her pitches though cuz as she gets Older it will cause injuries but keep it up she has potential:)))

That catcher CAN NOT catch nor throw a ball she stinks!

Ridiculous to put an 8 year old with limited skills on the mound against 10 year olds. No way she has the reaction time if they hit one hard back up the box. Face mask protects only that, a face. A shot to the chest and it could be far worse. Parents are idiots.

@grselbo I agree, a face mask only protects the face but that is why my daughter also wears a heart guard.
