José Garcia incarne une ancienne gloire du footbal français, aujourd'hui en proie à des problèmes d'alcool et un divorce qui menace de le priver de la garde de sa fille. Contraint par un juge de retrouver un emploi stable, il n'a d'autre choix que de partir à Lourdec, petite île Bretonne, pour entraîner l'équipe de foot locale. Face à l'amateurisme de cette dernière, il tente de convaincre ses anciens coéquipiers de le rejoindre et de l'aider hisser le petit club de Lourdec parmi les grands.
