  • Whatever Gould's interpretations might be, they are on the piano, not the harpsichord... And Ton Koopman is no lesser performer than Gould! I play the harpsichord and once the piano and I now realise what a pitfall it is to interpret baroque keyboard music on the piano. Let alone the (very important in my opinion) difference in sound.

  • Incidentally, Gould was a great artist, pianist and all of that, but he knew squat - rather, he didn't care much, had strong opinions, etc. etc. - about baroque-style interpretations. He was, at heart, a late romantic who played piano. Anything of what Koopman, Leonhardt or Ross did and/or are still doing was either unknown to or ignored by Gould ;-)

  • so it is. Ciao

  • I take it "especially" is intended without irony.

  • You can tell great performers expecially in these "easy" pieces...

  • Thanks for uploading this. :) I love Gould's interpretations, but it's nice to hear different versions. :)
