  • ...And the man is not counting, or keeping time. He's reciting dialogue of the story he is telling.

  • Bach is so righteous.

  • I'm sorry for my ignorance, but isn't this Bach's Violin Concerto in A Minor??? It sounds exactly the same just different key and concert instrument.... which is the original.... I think the violin one because Bach didn't live to see the Pianoforte... could someone please tell me?

  • @VodKaLogic

Sarcasm doesn't translate well through text

  • Glenn Gould killed Bach performances with his distasteful interpretations … No respect to the mastery of the music whatsoever.

  • @CooCurrent He claimed to be unaware while doing it, but had been made aware by recordings and other people. He was somewhat sensitive on the subject though; in the biography by Geoffrey Payzant, the only comment that Gould preferred to be removed prior to publication was one about him humming while playing, which he found "centipedal".

  • " Bach's Musical I.Q. was 240 dimensions because he left nothing to be desired, flawless fluidity approaching the divine with every note. "

  • @fwifepoop1 :O why doesn't he just get it over with and sing. Well, when you have a CD of someone playing you EXPECT it to be properly recorded. Wonder if he even realised? Surely someone would have, in the production stage. Hmmm...

  • something is wrong the man's mouth?

  • I once took back a cd set of Mozart sonatas played by Gould. All you could hear was his damn humming. Are you fucking kidding me?

  • @bersa888 What an intrigueing comment. The implication here then is that Bach wrote the music, and everything after is just commentary or footnotes; that maybe in another 300 years we could interperet his music perfectly.

Not at all disregarding or belittling the comment, as I've only JUST begun studying baroque music and counterpoint... and only just beginning to realize some of the brilliance that is Bach. I've just never thought of it in the way you presented, and it just may be accurate.
