This fire raged all afternoon and into the evening of June 14, 2008, consuming over 400 acres of desert landscape. It was thought to have been started by someone careless. The land was BLM land near the Dripping Springs park.

  • Went back myself and got blocked myself, all the way down where University turns into the dirt road. Drove all the way around to 70 and took Baylor Canyon road. I feel the same way that you do about the careless fool who started the fire. Right now I am making a new video called "Wounded Mountains". I'm not even a native, but in the seven years I've been hear I've really come to love the Organs myself.

  • The whole thing was really a missed opportunity. I also had a Canon 5D still camera with a zoom lens with me but didn't think to use it. Not that I want to be a sensation monger, but some quality pictures might serve to make people more careful about starting fires. The fire was still burning as of about two hours ago. Plan to drive back out in a while.

  • fire sux and sad to see am mt that used to trek long ago is damaged.

  • I got my phone and took pictures of it. I felt so sad my moms friend came here from houston and we live in sonoma ranch and could see it from our backyard. Our family and my moms best friend were so devastated to see that because we love to hike there. My moms friend didnt even get to hike up there and she wanted to during her visit. Thanks windcatcher2008 for showing this video. I hope the person or people that started it are caught. They obviously have no appreciation for nature.

  • I drove back out this evening (Sunday night) at around 8:15. They were stopping traffic at that main entrance to the neighborhoods back in Soledad Canyon, but there was still some flames to be seen and a lot of smoke. I love hiking out there, and it's sad to think how depressing it will look now because some idiot was smoking or cooking something out there.

  • You captured the fire well, I wish my camera was as high quality as yours.
