  • Joseph II once told mozart a piece he wrote had "too many notes"

  • This is the most musical I have ever heard this piece. Many times players perform it simply as a moto perpetuo, but you have brought out each individual line in proportion as it maneuvers around. Great job!

  • This song makes want to scream it's some how is very sad I just love the Shoko Sakai plays it it's truly joy

  • What mallets are using? Amazing job!

  • @cavoglavi

I like the way she plays it.

It is a piece of beautiful chaos, and she expresses control through her emotional movements.

  • it would be more musical if she chilled out a little

  • @sag8t i think lee howard stevens did the stick notation and the performance notes. but they're just suggestions. i use different stickings too.

  • @PrivateBuckwheat months and months (maybe years) of practice. i have it memorized. a lot of it i muscle memory by now. i could play it in my sleep.

  • @oxysean I like the slower personally but one thing I don't like on this performance is how she hardly does any of the sticking that Schwantner wrote in the music. That's my biggest problem with it.

  • @JahazielakaCurly Schwantner was born in 1943.

  • @sag8t i have both cd's. i think david hall plays it under tempo, like you said, but he is also inconsistent with his notes, sometimes playing 16th notes like triplets or even 8th notes, and evelyn glennie plays it well (even with a broken bar - low F i think) but she too, is inconsistent in her 16th notes. this player does it perfectly.

  • @oxysean there's a recording of David Hall playing it that is amazing. It's slower than this, but his musicality is incredible.

and then there's a recording of Evalyn Glennie..... It's amazingly fast and difficult.... but there's nothing musical about it at all.
