Pontian Horon at Sumela Pontos Kemence

Another short Video from my trip to the Black Sea (Karadeniz) region of Pontos in 1997 with Georgos Andreadis tour.

This is at the base of the Monastery of Panagia Sumela 50klm south of Trabzon (Trapezounta). After dancing together with the Kemence/Lyra Player Iannis Nikolaidis from Komotini, on the Daouly is Kostas Psathas (the trello) and Vasilis fotiadis sang. We met this man who insisted on dancing "Horon" for us.

My Sister, who's name is Simela (and not SUmela b/c we are from the west of pontos) tries her best to interview him in Pontiaka "Rum"..

Why are you fighting all the time?

We lived together in that region.Pontos or black sea, name does not matter.

But bad things happened in the past. You killed us and we killed you because we were in the WAR. But now we have PEACE and we must not screw it.

Don't you see germans and frenchs. They killed each other more recently but now they stand as one nation. I am not expecting to be brothers but we can be friends.

At least we have to try. We have same past and culture.

Awesome dancer and I am very glad that pontios can go back and forth from Greece to Turkey and visit their Roots.if we hold on to what happened in the past we would still be living in caves.
