NANAIMO - Shock has turned to outrage in Vancouver, around the province and across the country.

A disappointing game seven turned into a disgusting display of rioting.

Drunken thugs set fires, overturned cars and even attacked other people.

More than 150 people were hurt in the rioting.

One was a Vancouver Island man who returned to Departure Bay today all bandaged up with broken ribs and a punctured lung.

Not everyone on the streets of Vancouver last night was out looking for trouble. Christopher Leveille certainly wasn't. He was trying to help a stranger - when dozens of aggressive people in the crowd turned on him.

Leveille says he came across a man trying to keep the mob from smashing windows of a car rental agency.

But when Leveille tried to pull the attackers off - he says the crowd turned on him.

Witnesses say he was kicked and punched repeatedly as he lay unconscious on the ground.

Leveille woke up 2 blocks away surrounded by strangers. With obvious need of medical care - and not willing to wait for an ambulance, they waved down another good Samaritan - who drove Leveille to a hospital.
