wow...now i understand what auer was thinking when he quoted the piece as being impossible to play...an intense cadenza of incredible mind blowing technicality and musicality
naturally, francescatti aces is, and beautifully too

Thomas Schippers and the New York Philharmonic deserve a great deal of the credit here and the sound technicians. Perhaps Kamron Saniee should try performing the Tchaikowsky concerto with the Princeton college orchestra.

meraviglioso!

The amazing thing about Francescatti is that even though he plays very much in time, within that "in-timeness" he plays with such FREEDOM. You never feel that anything is mechanical. It's gloriously freewheeling and so damn wonderful!
One of a kind.

What can one say regarding his cadenza? It is truly amazing, magnificent interpetation and worksmanship.
Surely the sign of a genius as his profession.

It was hearing Francescatti play this concerto that made me understand what an achievement writing this was for Tchiakovsky--I did not fully appreciate the work until hearing ZF's interpretation..then I understood it truly to be a masterpiece, and that Francescatti pretty much plays it as written by Tchiakovsky--Auer said was unplayable. I regret the composer cannot hear this performance.
