Art Crawl 15 (Nov. 2007) part 1

My friends and I at our studios during an annual art show last Fall. It took me forever to upload this cause I had to find the time to resolve software conflicts and video compression issues. Look for more videos from me now that it's coming together! This is video I took at my building during ArtCrawl 15. It's a big show that happens in our part of town in the 'Warehouse' District. Around two dozen buildings are on a tour of art spaces, and something like 160 local artists participated last year.

Looks like fun with lotsa friends. Oh yea, you can go into a transporter thingy so you don't have to climb stairs. I think all buildings have them. They doors open and you go inside push #3 button in your case and bam. The doors open and you are there.

No elevators- they're boarded up! I walk up 3 flights of steps to the 4th floor each day. The old freight elevators date from the 1920's. The management won't ever do a total renovation. I couldn't afford to rent here if they did! They are big open loft spaces- but they are used for art studios. It's basic. We share bathrooms. It has become trendy to live in loft style condos, but ours aren't luxury apartments- they're industrial warehouse artist's lofts converted from an old factory.

Lots of blur. I was running around too fast trying to shoot too much. The music is nice! I like how the DJ pumps his fists to the music. There is an echo from sound bouncing off of concrete surfaces in those big rooms. I need to play with brightness/contrast because it tends to darken up after upload esp. for interior shots. Yep, there was lots of drinkin' goin on. I like the drunken profanity guy withthe camera I met outside. Check out part 2!

The music in combination with the shaky camera and echo quality to everyone's voices gives this video a surreal feel... like I am drunk or something. :)
