{Doctor:}
He seems to be completely unreceptive. The tests I gave him show no sense at all. His eyes react to light the dials detect it. He hears but cannot answer to your call.
{Tommy:}
See me, feel me, touch me, heal me. See me, feel me, touch me, heal me.
{Doctor:}
There is no chance no untried operation. All hope lies with him and none with me. Imagine though the shock from isolation. When he suddenly can hear and speak and see.
{Tommy:}
See me, feel me, touch me, heal me. See me, feel me, touch me, heal me.
{Doctor:}
His eyes can hear his ears can see his lips speak All the time the needles flick and rock. No machine can give the kind of stimulation, Needed to remove his inner block.
{Father:}
I often wonder what he's feeling. Has he ever heard a word I've said? Look at him now in the mirror dreaming What is happening in his head?
What is happening in his head? I wish I knew, I wish I knew.

My, I'd quite forgotten that der Jack was in this. It's a great film. Reed is suitably and brutally horrible. Moon, though, is the most uproariously despicable character in it all. Quite a good actor, then. And a life pointlessly cut short.
That's good observations on the cheque. But did anyone else notice the continuity error here? 'Frank Hobbs' signs the £250 cheque skewed, but when we next see the cheque his signature is straight...oops!.
They where trying to find a cure for Tommy, so they went to the 'specialist' Dr. Quackson(great name) and hooked Tommy up to his quackery contraption.
IMO it didn't ruin the original at all. I've got both the original 1969 The Who album and the 1975 movie, and enjoy them both. Although Jack and Oliver's 'singing' in this certainly leaves a lot to be desired.
Jack Nicholson may be a great actor, but he couldn't hold a tune in a bucket. But then Oliver Reed is not exactly the world's greatest singer either.
Apparently Ken Russell wanted Christopher Lee for the part of Dr. Quackson. But he wasn't available as he was in Thailand shooting Man With The Golden Gun.
