In an interview today on FOX's Happening Now, House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) discussed Republican efforts to cut government waste as well as the Administration's dangerous plan to close the Guantanamo detainee facility without a plan of what to do with the terrorists currently in custody there.

fully automatic weapons have been illegal for decades. what you call assault weapons are only single shot rifles, the same as a hunting rifle. we dont need to reform gun laws, we need to reform our criminal justice system. there is nothing wrong with the current legal gun ownership in any way, shape or form. our federal govt needs to keep better track of the weapons it sells to the federals in mexico and that would solve a lot of gun violence.

You're absolutely right. I should have refined my statement to read "coddling the NRA" and not gun owners, specifically. Gun ownership I understand (i.e. hunting rifles, shotguns, etc.) But assault rifles and fully automatic weapons? They have one intended use: killing people. That is why the gun was invented in the first place. We desperately need to reform our gun laws in this country. And to avoid a primary fight, the republicans refuse to even debate the subject. What a shame.
