In about 30 seconds I launch Parallels, start Windows, and then launch AutoCAD and open a drawing file. This is done on a MacPro in real time. Windows is being launched from a "machine off" state, not being awakened from "sleep" or "hybernation" mode.

  • which mac pro do you have?

  • The original MacPro ... ordered it the day they were announced several years ago.

  • Thanks for the comment PrimeVenom, but you are actually mistaken. I'm not using BootCamp, this is Parallels.

  • wow VMware on a Macintosh? ummm... GIMME!!!

  • @Zoller

It takes a full Gig to idle Windows 7 and 256kb for a Mac. So when Macs advertise 4 GB of RAM, that 4GB of usable RAM, not saying it has 4GB but only 3GB available for use. When 10.7 Lion comes out, Microsoft is going to have a field day, because there are operations in Lion that CANT be emulated on a DOS based Registry System, if it did, it would take 30-40Gb of RAM and a minimum of four 8GHz processors to equal what Lion will be able to do. Microsoft just needs to die already.

No, There is NOTHING on a Mac that is preloaded for Windows.

No Drivers are Running, No BIOS is Running.. Windows has Zero framework in common with a Mac, which is UNIX. Mac Boot times are less than 20 seconds, and as low as 10 seconds depending on how full your hard drive is. Because during bootup, the system actually does a fast defragmentation, so actual boot time is much shorter if a defrag wasnt on startup.

  • what are the specs?

  • nice, and i like your background...

  • i like your stuff, computers and aviation work hand in hand man (talking about your videos)...

  • I belive Windows still have to start it's own drivers and do a hardware recognition all over again.

  • Isn´t it distortion of truth?

I mean, BIOS is already running, the entire system is running, all drivers are running.

Then, Windows is started as a regular program.

You have to add MAC OSX boot time, don´t you?

    I don´t know.
