  • Thanks Toorlooo for the precisions.

Magic Moments (great first title...) makes me think of a film ambiance and inspiration (like "catch me if you can") and of Greta Garbo : she had "magical moments" in one of her first films facing John Gilbert with a bunch of flowers between their romantic fall in love...."belle malissima" seems a film character as well, doesn't it ?

  • @lorienforest jeje it does, "belle malissima" is french, right? if so do you know what it means?

  • Yes, you must be right about the BBC One Radio, as the sessions are much longer!

We can also notice that the three other titles mentioned by Toorlooo are among the earliest ones written by Mark, written before Talk Talk was created, from "The Reaction" times at least...

  • @lorienforest I'm not really sure, I have a feeling that those three tracks were written in 1982, RENEE is the exeption that song was written in the time of THE REACTION or the 300 cubs! CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG!

  • There is also another BBC one live from february 1982, this live has Renée, Magic Moments and Again a game Again. They are the best in audio quality from 1982 with Gillingham 1982 also.

  • @toorlooo only 3 songs, in february BBC ONE LIVE, am i right?

  • My very favourite Talk talk track. And live, WOW. The ergency and desperation is MIND BLOWING every time!

  • sorry, shyness compared to herS

  • Also, did you notice this "Trousers, trousers, bring me trousers" a cue in Garbo's film : "Conquest" where she plays Maria Walewska, one love conquest of Napoleon.

Mark just cries the same words at the very beginning of "Dum dum video" filmed by Tim Pope where he's (understandingly...) very shy and uncomfortable (feeling "weird...and unhealthy" under the rotating eye of the camera...

for me, it's an overt hint to her shyness and reserve if not final retirement from the public eye, just like him!

  • "belle malissima" is half sort of French (though pronounced in the Italian way and though in Italian it would be : bellA, meaning good-looking or beautiful (stronger..) malissima in Italian means very wicked. Obviously, a cinema "femme fatale" beautiful and a very wicked or perverse character.

    Any Garbo film incarnation ?

someone thought it was about an Italian Opera character, could be, but now I think it's about a film character acted by Greta Garbo..shyness compared to her...)

  • @lorienforest Renée is probably his earliest song. It was written and recorded with The Reaction and the 300 Cubs also.

Magic Moments is the song that will evolve in Today. I guess it was written early with Talk Talk.

Again a Game Again was written in the time of Talk Talk.

Another example is Candy, it was played live in 1981 and it was written with The Reaction.

  • For Renée, it's sure that it was not written after the late 70's, that meaning it was heard sung with The Reaction, I should think Magic Moments would be from the Reaction times as well, but I'm not sure of the first period, and you're probably right for Again a game.

Let someone more certain tell us ?!!! Thank you in advance...
