Annual charity raft race run by the Lion's club, Guildford UK, 4th July 2009. The theme was officially blockbuster movies, and we got lots of Pirates of the Caribean, a Titanic, a Jaws and a Thunderbird 5. We also got some non-movie themes including a very stylish oversized paper boat. The course was 4km along the river Wey through the town. Rafts were launched at regular intervals and were timed. For some, the race was an opportunity to throw lots of water on the opposition, but others took the race more seriously. Thunderbird 5 looked like a fairly hydrodynamically sound shape and was running pretty fast at the start, but there's a lot to go wrong at one of these events. For the winner see the organiser's website http://www.guildfordlionsraftrace.co.uk.
