It's wonderful - the best recording of this hymn I've found yet on YouTube. But...how necessary is it for someone to stand up and conduct the congregation? Does this really make people sing better? I am an organist and my Upper Michigan parish sings this hymn regularly. My vocally untrained congregation manages to get through it very well without an arm-waver. That curmudgeonly complaint aside, well done!
I learned this great hymn, written in the early 1960s by a British minister still highly regarded for his hymns, at the Collins Street Baptist Church in Melbourne, Australia. Hearing and singing it always will evoke fond, fond memories of the people of God, going all the way back to Mary herself.
