Camshaft position sensor squeaking, '98 3.8 Mustang - inside car

Camshaft syncronizer sqeaking on '98 3.8 V6 Ford Mustang.

This is the noise the engine was making before changing out the
camshaft syncronizer & sensor. I had a check engine code indicating
The camshaft position sensor was faulty, also had a great mechanic who
diagnosed the sound. This thing squealed loudly for several seconds
when starting cold (20 f). Some folks might jump to blame the pulley
bearing, but you can do a quick test yourself by placing a metal rod
on different places on the engine, with the other end pressed to you
ear.

Good... It's not too tough to replace and from what I heard, is something that fails with relative frequency. How did you do with the timing?... I will check out your other vids.

Keeping the timing correct was pretty simple... the replacement part I got included a plastic cap w/ arrow that fits only one way on top of the syncro. Mark the position of the arrow when it's on the old syncro, still in the engine (I scratched a mark in the gunk on the engine), then line the new one up with that mark.

@jonathanstotts It takes a little trial-and-error, as the syncro gears cause it to rotate a little as you slide it in. I couldn't get it in the *exact* place as the old one (just a touch off the mark), but it runs perfect.

You're the man... I still have to replace mine, but I'm doing it my way and then show you because all who have tried to put it how you did it have had misfiring or some other type of deal like check engine light on. You rock! :)

Thanks! I'll make a video of the way I replaced it. I think you did the impossible. All who have tried to put it the same way it came out have failed.
