For those wondering about the 50 move rule, it is not required that either opponent claim a draw because of the 50 move rule, but it is there if they want it. So this problem is not illegal.

If I understand correctly from Wikipedia Endgame Tablebase article, this is the position with the highest known DTC (Depth to Conversion), i.e. play until white manages to capture a piece. Is it also the position with the highest known DTM (Depth to Mate)?
-
@KBoogs719 Why would it? Chessmaster doesn't see 500 moves (ply) ahead or has a 7 piece endgame database.
-
@TheDarkSide599 actually if u look close enough u would see the peices were guarded
-
There were so many oppertunities for white's queen to take various pieces!
-
At around 3.43, can't black sacrifice its rook for the knight and set up a fortress at the corner?
-
i threw this position into my Chessmaster 10thEd. program and it doesn't even come close, Draw by threefold every time, anyone know why?
-
@steinarbeddari lazy imo. and it shouldn't be called a mate in 524 moves. that implies perfect play.
-
@sharpnova2 maybe he just got tired.

Unbereaveable!
Impressive. But black missed 412...Rc1! which would have prolonged the game another 86 moves.
