Filmed all of this a while ago, finally got around to putting the footage together.

All cars had one passenger to equal out the weight of me being in the camera car.

The Z has the MTI Stage I package (intake, headers, catted x-pipe, tune).

The Cobra is running 19 PSI tuned by Modular Powerhouse. He was having a hard time getting the 3rd to 4th shift down, the clutch (stock) wasn't fully disengaging when he'd go to shift, and it was running pretty rich, reason for the backfires.

The Mach has a 1.7L KB @ 15 PSI and 14* timing making ~430 RWHP (de-tuned) by Modular Powerhouse.

The Porsche (tiptronic) claimed he was stock, but there's no way. It was way too loud to be stock, as well as too fast. Stock they're rated at 444 BHP.

Anyways, was a fun night.

  • 4.6 not 2.6

  • Yeah I'm aware, I also have an '03 Cobra. The 2.6L is the displacement of the blower - it's a Kenne Bell 2.6L, there's a 2.2, 2.4, 2.6, and a 2.8 - with H variants (higher efficiency) in the 2.6 and 2.8 models.

  • I think the Mach was at 14 PSI, but very little timing - he's de-tuned at the moment, going for a final tune soon.

  • @digiam42 It wont take loads of cash im just saying its not cheep. nor a crate ls motor around $14,000

the ls9 shouldnt be alot more than that. Also for boosting an ls motor its aluminum block so yes you will need supporting mods, it should get near 1000 n/a. I know my fords on the 03 cobra was switched to iron block, with hardend rods, diff valves, forged crank, forged pistons and so on. I own a 94 gt. i like nothing more than ford and chevy

  • 6k in each car the c5 z would still b an all around better car.

  • Well u can't compare a c6 z06 price to a 03 cobras price and say dollar for dollar the cobra can b better bcuz c5 z06 still have aerodynamics and handling and weight advantage over cobra and both can b had used for around 18-20k

  • @yfzfofitty06 The 03 cobra doesnt need motor work. It will handle anything the average joe can throw at it. I will agree on the aerodynamics. Once a cobra hits 120 its fighting the drag bad. Where as the vette is still cutting through the air. The Z06 is a very capable car and I like them but dollar for dollar the cobra can be way faster. It really comes down to preference and you know how us ford and chevy guys are. die hard till the end

  • @digiam42 go check out motor trends first test of the 03 price as tested was around 36 or so. Like I said though motor work to a cobra wnt help its aerodynamics, or its handling . Z06 ls7 has one of the best power curves of any engine, also has top speeds around 180 and. Has almost perfect balance all of which making it an all around more capable car.

  • @luvscience44 LS motors do make over 1000 hp easy. But they dont easily make 1000. what im getting at is that it will take LOADS of cash and engine building to build as LS engine that can withstand 1000. Ford did the work for us in the 03 cobra and it will hold that power from the factory. The only chevy engine that can do that would be the ZR1 engine and id hate to even guess how much that thing costs.

  • All this talk about the cobra engine but lets not forget that to get 501 whp in that vette that he has to spend every bit of 6-7K to get it there. And contrary to belief its a pretty radical combo. Big cam, rough idle, and unstock driveability. These cobras, when out of boost, drive exactly the way they did the day they left the ford factory. This was a drivers race in this vid, Evenly matched cars and it cam down to driving skill.

  • @yfzfofitty06 I agree. Price is irrelevant> its all about who's first to the finish line. But taking an expensive car and beating one with half the money in it isnt impressive.

  • @yfzfofitty06 I dont know where you saw an 03 cobra for 38+. I bought my 03 cobra in the fall of 04. It had 12 miles on it and was 26,500. I put a 2.2 KB on it and made 604 rwhp on pump gas. I had about 6K more in the car with the blower upgrade, exhaust, tune, and a clutch to hold it, but for roughly 33K I was beating nearly everything i raced.. Including vette's. These cars with twin turbos are putting out 7-800 rwhp on pump gas. all for way under 70K.

  • ls motors will make over 1000 easy and fords are still nice
