Actually most professionals will tell you to place your finger closest to the next higher fret without going over. Placing your finger in the middle of the fret is more likely to produce fret buzz.

Man... 2 little things...

1-.the palm of the hand should be paralel to the neck. it's easier to play like that and you wont have an injury.

2-. Try to put your fingers in the correct way (in the middle of the fret) so it wouldn't sound like that...
