It is not a fault, it says so in the manual.
You have to turn off the auto focus. As it an underwater camera everything is sealed, so every tiny camera mechanical sound is amplified.

you can set the camera to 'inifnity' which will stop the clicking - which is actually the autofocus motor

terrible clicking noise is a well known fault with this camera
