    read other post ,moto and rim did it first ,plus apples so called patent only applies to HOW the magnet is installed in the case ,there is no patent on apples behalf or ownership that says " a tablets magnetic sensor determines sleep on or off " it purely indicates ONLY how its embedded in a case ,and apple cannot sue them companys making cases just for having a magnet inside it

    My reference to 'device' made an obvious inference to the type of gadgets produced by Apple and competing companies. In your constant attempt to troll, you obviously made no effort to discern this. For the record, that is what the patent industry aims to do... ensure that no prior technologies are improperly impeded upon. To do so, the actual product must not have been implemented in such a manner. That is exactly what the smart cover does. Thanks for the chat.

    yes ,smart meters ,anologue meters ,laptops since the 90s ,car doors ,parts in car engines do ,dashboard dials in cars ,calculators had them in the 90s with leather wallets ,the list goes on ,apple havnt invented a single thing in all their pathetic history

    yes they did. apple's smart cover uses magnets to unlock a device. can you name any product that did this prior to the ipad? no you cant.
