Rosa speaks against the reckless spending cuts in the Republican majority's proposed Continuing Resolution. Under the Continuing Resolution, every student in America receiving a Pell grant, close to nine million people, will see their aid slashed by almost $850 a year. 1.3 million students will lose their Supplemental Education Opportunity Grants. Cuts to Head Start funding mean that 200,000 kids will no longer have access to this important early childhood education program. Training and employment services will be cut by $5 billion, meaning that 8.4 million job seekers will lose access to this aid.
It also hurts our low-income seniors by eliminating up to 10 million new meals delivered to the homebound elderly and by cutting fuel assistance.
