on the day of my sisters wedding, my uncle and I were in charge of turning on the old organ at the church, he stood at the breaker box (St. Peters is a 200 year old church) and asked me to play something...it was the only time ever that someone played Louie Louie

This song was banned for a while... since it was Rock n' Roll. This was, like heavy metal is today, what parents hated their children to be listening to. I tried to get my band director to allow me to play this in the stands at a football game... he denied me several times. three fourths of our high school marching band were against playing it... However, this song was unbanned in the bandroom when, during my trumpet solo while practicing... I break out into Louie Louie. Hooray!

Two and a half years earlier on November 9th, 1963 it had originally entered the Top 100; and eventually it peaked at #2 {for 6 weeks} and spent 16 weeks on the Top 100...
