The exercise allows for core function improvements and augmented force coupling due to the use of multiple body segments and an asymmetrical loading pattern. Finally, due to its complexity, the exercise can function to improve overall kinesthetic awareness, coordination, and balance. With an increased emphasis on ballistic acceleration during the concentric (forward swing) phase, hip power can also be improved.
