Les Pauls and Strats aren't supposed to be compared...to even suggest that Les Pauls are better than Strats would be incredibly ignorant. The greatest guitarists advocate both-it's just a matter of preference of sound and feel.

I don't like humbuckers or humongous necks. This is why I prefer strats-but you don't see me claiming that my strat "stands above the rest."

Gibson made in Kalamazoo were amazing after that the company went to shit. Les Paul's are a one trick pony (they do the Rock thing qute well) give me a 335 or a L-5 thats where gibson shines. that said they have changed production to boost the quantity of guitars and for the Les Paul to work the neck pocket and neck have to be perfect the which it isnt and as cosmetics go, dont even get me started on what Ive seen from gibson.
