A group of Sunshine Coast TAFE Indigenous students graduated from the first Backyard Bites Program in December 2011. The Backyard Bites program teaches Bush Tucker horticulture, art and cooking to Indigenous students, with a strong cultural theme woven throughout the course.

"Our graduating students have been really lucky to learn from specialist Indigenous Bush Tucker Chef Dale Chapman, whose expertise as a Bush Tucker Chef is greatly sought after."

Graduating student Kristal Muggleton said the support Dale gave the students was brilliant. "The people you get to meet and what you get to do during the course was great, especially if you're a more hands-on learner like I am," "I also enjoyed the cultural aspect, being able to speak about your Aboriginality, it was an incredible journey."
