My review of the Gerber Silver Trident Knife. It is a well made tactical knife with LIMITED survival capabilities. There are several other knives I would go to first for a survival/camping knife. However, for those on active duty this might be just the ticket. In this video I go over the features of this knife.

Knife Specs:

- Double Edge Clip Point Blade
- Hytrel Handle
- 154 C Stainless Steel Blade
- 6.18" Blade Length
- 11.22" Overall Length
- 17.4 oz Overall Weight
- Ballistic Nylon Sheath

  • SKILLET!!

  • @secusurv It's not the only exception.Like other knife makers Gerber does make their lower end knives in China.Benchmade,Spyderco,etc. all do.The Silver Trident is a higher end blade like the LHR and the LMF 2 which isn't really high end as far as price, but is an awesome blade. All their auto's are American made.

  • The back of the sheath is for MOLLE attachment. Also, what other sheath besides LMF and LHR will holdthe knife upside don without the strap attach?

  • You say it is the first Survival knife you ever bought.... Then you say you wouldn't batton with it, Have you ever? By the way, it is a full tang knife. It was sold as a tactical knife not survival. but If I am in a tactical situation, I would call that SURVIVAL!

As far as opening the MRE's..... USE YOUR TEETH.

  • gerber knives are generally made in china. this was made in the usa, but this is really the only exception.

  • I have one of these and I like it. It seems to be a model by Gerber that should have been awesome but didn't catch on. It was designed by SEAL's, awesome "tacky" handle and great steel. You can get one for a great low price; they were originally going to sell for about $300+ but you can pick one up in the $100-$200 range.

  • Yeah, definitely a combat knife. Not a survival knife. I'm not sure how this compares to the Gerber LHR as a combat knife.

I believe it is full tang. The butt cap is isolated from the tang to reduce vibration and stress on the blade when performing pounding or hammering tasks.
