John Lennon se caracterizó por escribir canciones que describían desgarradoramente su tristeza y pesimismo. Sin embargo, en una serie de obras -bastante pocas-, se permitió mostrar alegría o, al menos, esperanza.
Esta selección está ordenada según este optimismo.

Se trata de canciones compuestas mayoritariamente por John (no tanto en compañía de Paul) y cantadas también por John como líder. Se incluye también Every Little Thing por la particularidad de que, si bien fue compuesta por Paul, la primera voz es de John (en general sucedía al revés: canciones no pesimistas compuestas por John las cedía para que fueran cantadas por otro, como los casos de Do you want to know a secret o I'm happy just to dance with you).

  • @theplans I think you're wrong. Both Lennon and McCartney said that "Eight Days a Week" was co-written. The idea for the title came from Paul. And John is the lead vocalist.

    What you said about "A Day in the Life" is right. It was mainly John's song. Paul's contribution was the middle section.

  • 8 days a week is mainly a McCartney song with Lennons contribution only small something like a few verses. A day in the life is pratically a Lennon song and the best parts of it are lennons work and to be fair the song exists because Lennon wrote it.
