Very evocative; when I was very little we were taken to Folkestone station as a great treat to see the 'Golden Arrow' come through!

Thanks Jim. Golden Arrow still makes the ocassional journey thru Kent and if the Remembrance Line can re-open the Harbour Station it will be a regular visistor.

@cjb12121 Hi, does the tornado or any other steam train run through the newly built railway line to St Pancras station from the tunnel??

Hi,
Sadly no steam trains on the high speed link, which was built only for the high speed electric trains.
Steam tours do travel regularly on the normal Victoria route, such as Golden Arrow.

@cjb12121 oh, I would imagine that a steam train would run better on that line, ina straight line that is. It would be a wonderful colaberation with the technology of yesteryear & the advanced improvement in rail technology of today. I am sure that the Mallard could beat its own record on it.
And well, steam is not just yesteryears technology, it is timelessly beautiful and blissful to watch a steam locomotive especially if its a modern one like Tornado, which is a beautiful machine, a beast.

It would be interesting to see how fast one would go on the high speed line. Sadly, steam is speed restricted these days to 65mph.. even Tornado. Those were the days, which is why we should all support the steam restorations.
