Midwestern Accent Educational Talkie

So often misrepresented is Kansas in our movies and television. Depicted as slow talking slack jawed hopeless farmers or bitter God fearing types. Although I can't exactly disagree on that issue, I can disagree on how they presume our accents to sound.

And like any good argument on the issue I forget what I was disagreeing with and go off on a completely different tangent for 80% of this video. Good enough for Youtube.

Is there that much of a difference in accents between Minnesotans and Kansans? I'm from Kansas myself and have come to the conclusion that my accent is probably as neutral as it could possibly get. The only thing I have notice is pen is more of a "pin" and "get" is more of a "git". But there is absolutely no southern twang to it.

i find it so interesting that while every region in the U.S seems to have its own "dialect" its own colloquial terms, and its own distinctive accent and you find so many people that come out of places like Georgia Texas, Chicago, NewYork, that have indistinguishable universal accents...cool:)-
