Nope. Balthier is the leading man, fool. Vaan just stands around being useless once you get past the beginning.

Vaan is the weakest main character I've ever seen, he's got nothing going for him. I wouldn't have minded the story focusing more around Reks or Balthier, they're more developed anyways.

why is it they have to make such hot and well mannered guys and they kill some of them off? lol. my mom was watching a ff video and said "hm they dnt have these good looking guys around anymore who would love you like these guys."XD

Wow. There's a prologue cutscene? That would have been helpful to know before I watched the rest of the cutscenes in the ENTIRE game. I was so confused the whole time! This would have cleared things up a bit.

I remember when I started playing the game. "Ugh, the voice acting is as bad as it was in X," I thought to myself as I reached the assassination scene. Eventually, though, I realized that this game probably has the best voice acting in a video game yet, and when I watched that scene again I realized that it was actually the *character* who couldn't act well, not the actor himself.

I remember thinking that Basch's voice was off at 5:05 but dismissed it as my imagination. XD

No...I Agree with your statement! It would've been More interesting if Reks was apart of the Main Cast instead of Shoving Vaan in! When you look at it, that whole scene with him being stabbed and watching Basch (Noah) Being Arrested was for a reason had me thinking he was going to discover the truth behind it all!

Vaan is not the main character. It's considered an ensemble cast. There's some debate about it, but a lot of people think if there IS a main character, that would be Ashe. Although I think the story was Basch was going to be the main character for the game, but they decided they needed someone younger to be more appealing so they created Vaan and stuck him center in all the promotional art, though he does little. That's what revenant wings is for. :\

Personally I think Vaan wasn't the main character at all. The reason, in my eyes, that he seems so weak is because he was never meant to really stand out from the others. All the characters in this game's group of heroes were supposed to be looked at like a unit, not as separate entities where one stands out as the lead. Although if I had to chose a main character it would have been Ashe.

I always wondered why the muffled voices, I thought it must be they were running out of space on the disc (not sure if they used a dual layer DVD or what) and they had to use low bitrate for the cutscene sounds...because the game has SOOO much stuff in it...otherwise they might have ran into a PS2 limitation (besides the ones they already had run on, such as the jaggies)...

Is it sad that I think Reks was more developed than Vaan and Penelo? Combined. The fact that they shoe horned those two characters in and then made Vaan the main protagonist was kind of obvious throughout the entire game. Maybe he would have worked as a supporting character, but he was a weak choice as the lead. Besides, Balthier made it very clear that he was suppose to be the lead.
