well said, but I´d like to add to the answer of yours for pimporly, that not all fjords are atm have a decent ridingbuild. You can still come across with fjords with short thick necks and short backs.. So if you´d want a fjord with to compete in english for example, pass such fjords cause draftbuild wont suit.

Hello
FJords are great to ride. They have made it to grand pre level dressage. Or most common to the back woods in the mountains and beyond. The NFHR (Norwegian Fjord Horse Association) has a list of breeders in Florida. Google it. The FJord is also known as the strongest horse per pound. They vary in conformation from more drafty to slim athletic. There is something for everybody. In our favorite multi disipline horse.

Do their manes ever get long or do you have to trim them to stand upright?

We do trim their manes Only beacause they have the most unique looking mohawks around. IMO
