Lou Donaldson really outdid himself with this amazing tune. His cool style, lyricism and dynamics were all a part of his usual repetoire. He is a true American classic.

I don't know why Bluenote doesn't make this great album available on a 24 bit on a Rudy Van Gelder enhanced CD. It's certainly in the top 10 of the lable's expansive catalog. The same can be said for Lee Morgan's Cornbread.

Deepest feeling between humans in love....

"Blue's Walk" is the one to keep. It's simply marvelous "grooving'" music.

By far Lou's best (and most popular) album. Lou's a survivor, but whenever I want to demonstrate why Bird was unreal, I play his 4-bar break on "Night in Tunisia" (from the Carnegie Hall date with Diz) and follow immediately with Lou playing the same break from his date with Art and Clifford at Birdland. It sounds very very amateurish by comparison, but not his fault. Bird was simply that much better.
