Delivering meals to homebound men and women in Michiana isnt always easy. Sometimes, its even dangerous. But Sarge is no stranger to danger. A retired U.S. Marine Corp Sergeant, John Sarge Ullery Jr. knows what it means to get the job done.
As a volunteer delivery driver for Meals on Wheels, Sarge is a hero to the many local seniors who depend on him for hot, nutritious meals. So when a blizzard stormed through South Bend last winter, he didnt flinch. With meals in both hands, he set out to brave the ice, snow and cold winds.
And it got worse. He may have been a long way from the battlefield, but Sarge found himself relying on survival skills he learned as a young soldier. Lying on his back and covered in snow wasnt the way this story was going to end.
But only one man can tell it best the ol Sarge, himself.
