  • Sean was indeed a true Socialist, a Republican Socialist and a skilled and humanitarian Physician. His support for Cuba, Nicaragua, etc. cost him dearly as his medical "Colleagues" got him sacked from his position as Chief of Staff at a prestigous hospital. Never one to give up, he took them to Court and got his position back. He was also one of the greatest guys for craic you could imagine! Also I would agree that the word "gentleman" sums up Tom MacGiolla perfectly.

  • He was the salt of the earth, N. I knew him well, but in recent years we only saw each other about once a year, and it broke my heart to learn that he had died and been buried before I knew of it some months later. He was a man who would make you totally at ease in his company. The only "bad habit" he had (besides smoking!!) was that he was constantly on the phone about his patients! That is the mark of a good Doctor...he was involved in every step of his patients' care. RIP, A Sheain!
